Tummy tuck
This type of procedure is particularly helpful to women who, after
pregnancies have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin, and also to
both men and women after dieting and loss of weight in short periods of
time.
Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation operations became very popular during the 80’s.
Indeed, the number of women who underwent breast surgery in the USA stood at
around 90,000 during the 90’s. Since then, the number of operations
increases by around 30%-40% every year. In Greece, similarly, the number of
women who decide to visit a plastic surgeon and undergo surgery is
increasing every year too.
Liposuction
It is a procedure to remove fat with the insertion of a narrow cannula to
break up the fat cells. It leaves inconspicuous scars since the cannula’s
diameter is around 3-4mm
Rhinoplasty
The fact that rhinoplasty was first performed centuries ago is very
impressive. There is an indication from papyrus that in ancient India and
Egypt (600 years BC), some form of nose correction was performed after nose
amputation. The first rhinoplasty took place in 1887 (Roe), while Joseph
(1897) considered the father of modern rhinoplasty. Finally, his students,
Aufricht and Safian developed the procedure in America.
Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is quite common and affects around 65% of young, and over 40%
of middle aged men.
It appears as an overdevelopment of a man’s breast size. In most cases, it
is very difficult to establish the reasons why, but sometimes it is because
of excess fat, known as “pseudo-gynecomastia”
Breast reduction
For a woman, her breasts represent the symbol of feminism, maternity
and sex appeal. However, and more importantly, it is a part of her body that
in some cases could give rise to some physical and physiological problems,
for instance, when breasts are large and pendulous. Mammaplasty as it is
also known, usually starts at an early age (teenage years) and is maintained
throughout and after pregnancy. It seems that the combination of certain
hormones such as progesterone , prolactin, insoulin, estrogen etc, plays a
significant role. Main causes for large breasts are the excess fat and
glandular tissue that exist inside and around the breasts.
Breast lift
Over the years, factors such as gravity, multiple pregnancies, nursing,
rapid weight loss or gain make a woman’s breasts to sag. Breast lift is a
surgical procedure to bring back the shape and the right anatomic position
of sagging breasts. If breasts have lost their volume, especially after
pregnancies, then breast lift can be performed in conjunction with the
insertion of implants to achieve a better result.
Face lift
Over the years, the effects of gravity, sun exposure and the stress of daily
life reflect in people’s faces. Deep creases form between the nose and mouth,
the jaw line grows slack while the skin around the face and neck loses its
elasticity.
